These Gardens are
the result of nearly 90 years of continuous care
by many hundreds of people. Here tradition and
innovation are partners in improvement.
You can help us
with your comments and you can even get your
hands dirty by helping us in person. You can
also greatly assist us through your financial
support. All donations are tax deductible - your
wishes as to how they may be directed are
welcome. Many people in the
past few years have contributed funds for the
purchase of benches, trees, or assistance for
larger projects. Our Gardens representative will
work with you to see that your wishes are
respected. Memorial donations are a particularly
wonderful way of remembering a loved one. As an
organization directed by a volunteer Board, we
know the value of contribution and we trust that
you will agree that gifts to the Gardens are
beautiful, accessible and lasting.
After you have
provided for yourself, family and friends,
Planned Gifting can be a great way to say thanks
to an organization and create a lasting
benefaction of your support. There are a number
of ways that planned gifts can be provided and
these require the advice of your Lawyer,
accountant and financial advisor.
Summerland Ornamental Gardens enjoys and
welcomes the support of those individuals,
families, groups, government agencies, and
corporations who wish to create a long-term
legacy of a treasured relative or friend that
benefits the community in general and the
Gardens in particular.
Major donations allow families and friends
associated with the gift to have a special
relationship with the Gardens.
The Board of Directors of the
"Friends" encourages the donation of
funds for items which have a functional and
beneficial use to ALL users and visitors of the
Gardens. The Board reserves the right to reflect
on and decide on those items which may or may
not be donated or purchased for use in the
Gardens.
Ten percent (10%) of funds paid for major
donations will be contributed to the Garden's
Sustaining Fund to enhance the long-term beauty
of the Gardens . All additional funds collected
above the cost of the item purchased and the
Sustaining Fund contribution are to be assigned
to a separate maintenance account for ongoing
care of the item.
